I started playing the piano at age 5. At nine I joined a boys band and learned to play the saxophone. At 13, the band needed an oboe player. I was chosen. At 19 I started attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and after a couple years of serving a church mission during my university years, I received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education with oboe as my major instrument.
In that program, I learned to basically play all of the instruments of the orchestra and became a high school band and orchestra teacher. However, after a couple of years of teaching I decided that teaching was not my forte.

Paul's Piano is owned and operated by Paul Plumb, B.Mus.Ed., Piano Technician
I decided I should do what I loved best in high school - music and shop. What better than being a Piano Technician? With instruction from a mail order course from the Randy Potter School of Piano Technology in 1989 I then apprenticed for a year with Roland Gritanni. I owe him greatly for his willingness to apprentice me when no one else would. With Roland's help I started servicing pianos that same year.
After operating Plumb Pianos and Academic Music School for many years in London, Ontario, I retired in 2016 - but after a couple of years of being bored, decided it was time to be semi-retired and do what I thoroughly enjoyed - hence Paul's Piano.
I specialize in reconditioning pianos that are good quality, but have minor problems that need to be repaired or regulated to function like they did when new. Every piano is sold with a warranty that guarantees the mechanical workings of the piano are free from defects. Many of the pianos have scratches or finish flaws that disqualify them as fine pieces of furniture - BUT - it's what's inside that counts with a piano - so by the time I have finished my magic you get a piano that is mechanically great for a lot less money. Most of my pianos will cost less than a new digital and play better. And you will have the satisfaction of recycling an incredible piece of machinery that can melt your heart.
This small business helps single moms in Africa. Most of what you spend here will go to help them. They get nothing from their countries to be able to survive. If you're not interested in a piano, I would gladly receive whatever you can give to help them.
